Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 22 May 2026

FileFish is operated by Squared Lemon, registered in the Netherlands. By using FileFish, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The service

FileFish lets you send small files to another device using a short-lived download code. You email a file to bucket@file.fish, FileFish emails you a 5-digit code, and the recipient enters the code on file.fish to download the file. Access codes are valid for one hour, and senders can postpone expiry using a one-time signed link we email shortly before the code expires.

FileFish runs on EU-based servers. Files are stored on EU-based infrastructure for the lifetime of the access code, then deleted. See our privacy policy for the details of what data we keep and for how long.

The service is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uptime, availability, or that the service will always work for your particular use case. We may change, suspend, or shut down the service at any time, including for individual users where we have a reasonable suspicion of abuse.

2. Using FileFish responsibly

You agree not to use FileFish to:

  • send anything illegal, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights
  • send malware or any other content intended to harm a recipient
  • use automated tools to flood the service or scrape access codes
  • attempt to bypass technical limits, including by spoofing email headers

We may refuse to process a message, suspend access, or remove files if we have a reasonable suspicion of abuse.

3. Your files

You own the files you upload. FileFish does not claim rights over your files. We do not read them, share them with third parties, or use them for any purpose other than delivering them to the device that enters the access code.

Access codes expire one hour after we generate them. File binaries are deleted from storage within roughly one hour after code expiry. The post-expiry window is intentional: it gives senders time to postpone expiry using the one-time signed link we email shortly before the code expires. Some operational metadata about your message is retained for longer; the privacy policy describes exactly what and why.

4. No warranty

FileFish is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied. We are not liable for any loss caused by the service being unavailable, by files being delivered late, by files becoming unavailable, or by access codes being shared with unintended recipients. Please do not rely on FileFish as the only copy of an important file.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for damages that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

5. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

6. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.
